| WHAT
I CAN DO: |
||||||||
Artwork of many flavours and categories. Freehand artwork with a love of illustration and cartooning. Graphic art in the form of logos, layout and design. Fine artwork in the form of paintings and portraiture. My years of experience, and a joy of creative expression, has seen me complete many an art project in an eclectic range of areas. I have a strong skill in writing with a large vocabulary. A spell-checker is a tool, not a crutch. I get along
with all manner of people, customers and even sales reps. |

| THE TOOLS I USE: | ||||||||
Computers! I am as adept with computer graphic technology as any person can claim to be in the ever-changing world of upgrades and "improvements". I'm very comfortable in with the Macintosh and well-acquainted with the Windows platform. I am extremely versatile with the Big Guys: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Quark Xpress. I have an ever-increasing facility with web design. From scanner to screen to printer, I've logged many thousands of hours commanding the silicon tools of modern art and design. I own a Mac with OS 10.4.9, a scanner and a colour printer, with the whole system connected to the Internet with DSL. Acrylic paints and coloured pencil. Pen and brush and ink. Pencil and paper. I have an accomplished skill in freehand drawing, being able to actually create a needed spot illustration element without a clipart disk.

| WHERE I ACQUIRED SUCH EXPERTISE: | ||||||||

) Illustrator of “How to Play Poker” by Dave Scharf ( www.arcturuspublishing.com ) Illustrator of the “Macaroni & Cheese Cookbook” ( www.maccheese.com ) Five years in the high-pressure crucible of digital printing at DIGITAL JUNGLE and then COLOR RIGHT NOW. The duties of a graphic designer, desktop publishing and pre-production jockey in such an environment are wide and varied. Beyond the normal give and take of generating art for a client, I had to be quite the computer troubleshooter. The sad truth is that computers and their software are rarely as cross-compatible as one would hope. Taking a supplied file and outputting a satisfactory result can require the most incredible cybernetic convolutions and twists. This was all done on cutting edge digital equipment with classic curses and sweat: Hewlett Packard 600 dpi and Encad large format plotters, Xerox 2060 Digital Press, Toshibas, via both high and low-end Macintoshs and PCs. Television series: For the first and second seasons I was the graphic artist responsible for a wonderfully extensive range of art props and set decorating pieces on "JAKE AND THE KID". I also enjoyed a less regular but key involvement with the series "HONEY, I SHRUNK THE KIDS". Needless to add, the deadlines in the television business are merciless. Regular cover artist and illustration advisor for "CANADIAN POKER MONTHLY" magazine. Movie promotion and marketing with NOMADIC PICTURES, creating pamphlets, brochures and post cards. Member of Team designing and creating the "Canada in Space" exhibit at the CALGARY AIR & SPACE MUSEUM. Wall murals to layout of labels. Contributions to their website. Also unofficial illustrator and graphic designer for the CALGARY SPACE FRONTIER SOCIETY T-shirt design EVOLUTION SPORTSWEAR. Primary illustrative talent behind their long-running line of "Evolution of Sports" shirts. This was aided enormously by a prior 6 years in the art department of the silkscreen-textile industry in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Lapel button designs created and sold thru retail outlets, convention markets and custom orders
